Almost there...

This module has definitely been a much greater challenge than module one. While module one was very much about us as individuals and our own practices and experiences, this module is more about the bigger picture of our practice and our 'little wonders' within that. I had to consider participants, how I would choose them and all the many many ethical considerations surrounding the research. I had to learn about researching methodologies and methods which was completely foreign to me and took some time to get my head around. One of the most challenging things above all else this term was TIME MANAGEMENT. Finding time to actually study, the time it took to whittle my topic down into a feasible research question, wading through article after article after book after book and then the time needed to condense all the notes into clear essays, then write the essays, rewrite the essays. Suffice it to say, it's been a hectic few months.

But I'm here! Almost at the deadline and feeling hugely relieved to almost be two thirds of the way on this BAPP journey. What I would like to take away from this module, and what I think I forget sometimes with the stress of the study, is the practice based element and what knowledge I have actually gathered. I find it very easy to think of this course as an academic exercise but really it's supposed to work hand in hand with my practice and they should influence each other. I'd like to apply some of the things I've learnt about vocal health and ethics into my everyday practice. Wish me luck!
